European Printer 2005

MEDIALIS Offsetdruck again awarded a gold medal.
MEDIALIS Offsetdruck has repeated its 2004 achievement and has been awarded the “SAPPI European Printer Of The Year” title for 2005.
The winners of the 2005 Sappi European Printer of the Year awards were announced at a glamorous evening gala in the fascinating Topkapi Palace in Istanbul, Turkey. 45 printers from Europe and the Middle East were awarded gold, silver and bronze medals in nine categories.

For the first time in the European award’s 12-year history, printers from Sweden, Russia, Kuwait and Lebanon were among the winners. German printers were successful in each of the nine categories.

A total of 2,609 entries from 35 countries were submitted, which is more than in previous years. The independent jury, consisting of experts and dignitaries from the printing industry, pointed out that it had been a hard choice due to the extremely high standard of this year’s entries, and added that printing quality had reached an unprecedented level, in particular in the categories brochures, books and printers’ own promotion.

From the 45 award-winning entries submitted by the various printing companies, the judges selected nine gold award winners.

Squint 04|FLORAL
In the magazines category, MEDIALIS won the gold medal for the “Squint 0/4 FLORAL“ magazine.

The “Squint 04/FLORAL” magazine, containing compositions by various photographers on themes from the world of music and theatre, was printed on a four-colour sheet-fed offset press on Sappi paper “Magno Pearl” 135 g/m² and 300 g/m². This entry was submitted by the paper supplier, Deutsche Papier.

The jury remarked that the magazine was of excellent design and printing quality and excelled due to its expert selection of paper. Pre-press work was excellent, too, and FM screening was the perfect solution for the photographs involved.

The nine gold medal winners will be taking part in the international awards in Shanghai in October 2005.
