August 1994

Founding of Medialis Offsetdruck GmbH by its four managing partners, Jochen Schaefer, Michael Schäfer, Walter Fromm and Jürgen Lucka.
The company was established on the basis of many years of joint experience in the printing industry.

December 1994

Our first printing press, a four-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 102 70×100, was installed in December 1994.

March 1995

In March 1995, we introduced state-of-the-art pre-press technology featuring digital sheet assembly, a “Herkules” image setter and a variety of fully networked work stations.
At the same time, the pre-press agency “Bildpunkt” moved in to share our business premises. The networking of our two companies has enabled us to offer our customers a wider range of services, including high-quality scans and high-class image processing.

August 1996

Only two years after its foundation, Medialis had already established itself firmly on the market and had gained a reputation as a reliable partner. The result was expansion of our capacity in all fields.
By renting additional floor space, we were also able to fulfil our wish for presentable reception rooms and to optimise our pre-press production processes.

December 1996

In December 1996, another press was installed, a five-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 102 70×100.
Our staff numbers were increasing rapidly, from 14 in January 1996 to 23 in December 1999.

December 1999

The new millennium was greeted with a new Speedmaster SM 102-5c 70×100 for our pressroom and new RIP technology, an A0 plotter and another plate processor, for our pre-press department.

November 2002

2002 marked the beginning of a new era in pre-press technology, requiring considerable investment on our part:
Extensive rebuilding work in the pre-press section to prepare for the introduction of CTP processes.
Installation of a “Topsetter 102” platesetter featuring an online plate processor; PDF workflow; trapping; Signa assembly station; A0 Epson and HP plotters.
Replacement of our five-colour press by a new-generation press, the Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 102-5c 70×100 equipped with CIP 3. Now the printing plate data are transferred directly online to the press.

December 2003

Replacement of another press. The new press is also equipped with CIP 3.
By this time, our staff had grown to 28.

May 2004

Medialis was elected as gold winner in the magazines category of the “European Printer Of The Year 2004” awards by Sappi, the world's largest producer of coated fine paper. This meant that we had been chosen as one of the six best printing companies in Europe and were now eligible to take part in the international award ceremony at Capetown in autumn 2004.
