At the beginning of the 1990s frequency modulation screening was first used on a large scale in the printing industry.
After a certain amount of initial enthusiasm, FM screening technology disappeared from the scene again for a number of years. Even though the results were brilliant, it was difficult, if not impossible, to reproduce them on film or printing plates.
With the introduction of computer-to-plate-technology, the second generation of FM screening has now become a feasible process.
This screening technology requires fine-tuning of all parameters and very low-tolerance CTP platesetter and press operations.
